A quick comparison:
Things that fascinate JB a year later: balloons!Today we went to Costco to stock up on some essential things like paper towels, ground turkey and jerky treats for the dogs. The line was quite long to check out, and JB was getting a leetle bit fussy (who could blame her, we were on stop 2 of our 3 stop shopping spree - 3 stores in less than 2 hours.....I'm still patting my own back over that one. Especially since stop#1 was Target and stop #2 was Costco. This list thing seems to work after all.....) so The Big Guy handed her his Costco membership card to look at. Boy Howdy did it ever do the trick. She turned it around and around and flipped it over and slid it against the metal frame of the cart. When we reached the checkout she gripped it firmly in her little hand whist mom and dad unloaded all our supplies onto the conveyor belt for scanning.
When it was our turn for scanning, the cashier asked for the card. The Big Guy pulled on the card, and JB clung to it as if it was her last goldfish cracker. Her bottom lip pooched out as the card slid through the white tips of her fingers. The cashier laughed and commented on how JB really had a death grip on the card as she swiped it and held it out for JB to take back. A cute moment, but not anything I considered memorable. Not memorable that is until we went to Merchandise Pick Up to get the gift cards we had purchased. At the counter JB proudly offered the card to the girl working at the counter (who didn't notice) and again at the door where they check your items against the reciept she shoved her chubby hand outward toward the reciept checker.
I must endeavor to remember that she doesn't miss a thing!
